Sports : Hulk Hogan is Engaged
on 2010/1/5 6:20:00 (472 reads)
Sports

(SkyNewswire.com)--- After a rather difficult few years, the Boston Herald reported recently that Hulk Hogan has become engaged to Jennifer McDaniel, whom he has been dating for 2 years.

Hulk Hogan is the stage name of Terry Bollea, one of the superstars of professional wrestling from its 1980s heyday. Bollea joined the World Wrestling Federation in 1979. His rise in the ring coincided with the expansion of the WWF, and Hogan became a star through live events and pay-per-view television. His career got a big boost early on from an appearance with Sylvester Stallone in the movie Rocky III (1983), and by the late '80s "Hulkamania" was in full swing. Hogan was headlined live events like Wrestlemania and became an all-around TV celebrity on talk shows and MTV.

Easily recognized by his extra-large frame, long white hair and handlebar mustache, Hogan's trademarks included feather boas, torn shirts and leg drops. While with the WWF (later World Wrestling Entertainment), Hogan secured five heavyweight titles between 1984 and 1993. He joined World Championship Wrestling in 1994 and changed his persona from good guy to heel.

While with the WCW Hogan earned six heavyweight titles (1994-99). He returned to the WWF/WWE in 2002, grabbed his sixth title and revived his multimedia celebrity. In 2005 he and his family debuted in a reality-based television series, Hogan Knows Best, and in 2008 he began serving as the host of NBC's revived American Gladiators series.

Sports : Will Flavio Briatore’s Lifetime Banned Overturned?
on 2009/11/25 5:00:13 (325 reads)
Sports

(SkyNewswire.com)--- The former Renault team principal, who was punished by the FIA's World Motor Sport Council in September for alleged race-fixing, claimed in the Paris High Court on Tuesday that the ruling was 'illegal' and that the ban had been agreed in advance of the original hearing. He is demanding almost £1 million in compensation. Briatore was born in Verzuolo near Cuneo, Italy, in the Maritime Alps, to a family of elementary school teachers. After being flunked out for two times from the public school (state school), he had to go to a private school (independent school) to get a diploma with the lowest grades in Land Surveying at Fassino di Busca high school.[2] Briatore found early work as a ski instructor and restaurant manager. He opened a restaurant named Tribüla, which was Briatore's nickname. The restaurant was unsuccessful and went bankrupt.

Briatore, who did not attend Tuesday’s hearing, “vigorously and utterly” contests having a role in the scandal which saw Renault driver Nelson Piquet Jnr crash his car deliberately into a wall at last year’s Singapore Grand Prix in order to help teammate Fernando Alonso win the race.

The Italian claims his punishment was mainly down to his tense relationship with then-FIA president Max Mosley and was motivated by “an excessive desire for personal revenge” on Mosley's part.
