Engineering, Science and Technology : Boker's Announces Fender Washers Available in a Broad Range of Sizes and Materials
|
| on 2010/8/26 17:00:00 (119 reads) |
(SkyNewswire.com) --- Boker's, Inc. announces that the company's extensive washer selection includes fender washers, available in a wide variety of sizes and materials. Fender washers are offered with outside diameters ranging from 0.081 inches to 5.000 inches, plus numerous inside diameter and thickness options. With ready access to more than 2,000 commonly specified and difficult-to-find materials, Boker's delivers fender washers in materials including low-carbon sheet steel, various spring steels, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper and nickel silver. Non-metallic material options include ABS, acetal, polyester, nylon, nylon MD, polycarbonate, fiber, polyethylene and various NEMA grade laminates. These fender washer sizes are easily accessible by searching for specific outside or inside diameters at bokers.com/fender_washers.asp.
A fender washer, though similar in shape to a standard washer, differs in that the outside diameter is traditionally much larger in proportion to the center hole. With this design, a fender washer can be placed under the head of a bolt or nut to help distribute forces applied when tightening. Its oversized outside diameter also provides more bearing surface for the load of the fastener--distributing the load further on soft or thin materials. Fender washers are commonly used in automotive, sheet metal, plumbing and electrical applications.

Engineering, Science and Technology : Enclosed Vision System with Camera, Lighting and PC Delivers High-Resolution Inspection for 25 Cm Console Audio System Control Face Plate
|
| on 2010/8/17 13:00:00 (100 reads) |
(SkyNewswire.com) --- PPT VISION's IMPACT 9200 high-resolution camera (1600 X 1200 pixels) is used to inspect the face plate of a car stereo. The vision system is required to inspect the print quality of various text on panels, dials and buttons, as well as logos and labels. The vision system is also required to verify a small ID code located at the top right corner of the face plate. A high-resolution camera is required due to the print sizes compared to the size of the face plate, since a single camera is required to cover an inspection area that is approximately 10 inches wide. When the face plate is loaded onto the inspection cell, a barcode reader reads the barcode and sends the plate model information to the IMPACT device through the serial port. The IMPACT device then loads the corresponding part file and performs the inspection. Once the inspection is completed, the data is sent to a custom Visual Basic (VB) software application through Microsoft ActiveX platform, which in turn links to a database that is part of the manufacturing plant's SQL server.
In order to provide an even coverage over the curved surface of the face plate, the inspection is done in an enclosed box with two diffused bar lights mounted above the part. This is a standalone system with cameras, lighting, optics, PC and various communication and electrical components enclosed. The system is also designed to accommodate additional IMPACT devices within the same inspection cell for additional inspection requirements. The communication links to the SQL server is made possible through custom software and composite tools designed by PPT VISION application engineers.

Engineering, Science and Technology : PPT VISION IMPACT High Resolution Smart Cameras Control Plastic Extrusion Manufacturing
|
| on 2010/7/28 7:30:00 (121 reads) |
(SkyNewswire.com) --- PPT VISION's IMPACT 7200 high-resolution camera (1024 X 768 pixels) is used to measure the dimensions of extruded plastic parts. The vision system is required to inspect over 100 different part types coming off the extrusion line. The parts can be either black or white in color, and can be any where from 2 to 18 inches in length. The IMPACT camera is mounted on a conveyor station that can be moved among different extrusion lines. Due to the difference in part size, the vision system cannot utilize a sensor to trigger the camera because the sensor would have to be moved to accommodate different part lengths.
The flexibility of the IMPACT software provides a solution where the camera is continuously triggered at an interval of 20 milliseconds. As a part sits on the moving conveyor, the vision program tracks the position of parts center to determine if a new part is in the FOV. When a new part is detected, it measures the maximum length, even if the part is rotated. A custom operator interface panel conveniently displays the measurement of every part. Additionally, it allows the operator to set the minimum and maximum measurement value in calibrated units. If the measured value is between the minimum and maximum value set by the operator, the vision system locks an image on the control panel while the part continues to move on the conveyor before it is placed in the shipping container. If the part fails, the camera turns on an air blower and blows the failed part into the reject bin. Using a "TRAIN" button integrated on the custom panel, an operator can setup a new part by simply placing a test part on the moving belt.

When it breaks down, it needs to be fixed fairly quickly so that clothes can be cleaned on a regular basis. AM PM Los Angeles Appliance Repair is offering some helpful tips on keeping the washer in good working order so that repairs are not needed too frequently.
Tip No. 1. Front loading washing machines are prone to a build-up of mildew because of the way they are designed. Leaving the door open for short intervals periodically will allow the seals to dry thoroughly and prevent mildew from accumulating, which will also cut down on odors. Tip No. 2. When it comes to appliance repair Los Angeles, residents are advised that regularly cleaning the lint filters to help keep the washing machine working properly is a good idea. Lint should not be allowed to build up in the filters as this can create a problem with clogging. Tip No. 3. The washing machine hoses should also be checked on a regular basis for any signs of wear. Los Angeles Appliance Repair advises replacing the hoses every five to seven years to keep everything in good working order.
