Insurance : Change in Calif. Auto Insurance Emphasizes Difficulty in Determining Rates
|
| on 2010/8/2 10:30:00 (87 reads) |
(SkyNewswire.com) --- The calculation of the cost of car insurance can appear to be a perplexing process to the average consumer. That's because the weight that is placed on a variety of factors used to determine premiums differs with each company. A recently made agreement between a major California auto insurer and the California Department of Insurance, which will lower rates for many customers in the Golden State, has highlighted the level of complexity involved in premium calculation.
The issue that sparked the need for the rate-changing agreement is the extent to which car insurance companies can use geographical location as a factor in premium calculation. All states allow insurers to factor in the geographic location of the driver; a motorist living in a dense urban area will likely encounter more traffic congestion and higher accident rates than a driver who is in a rural area, and insurers calculate risk accordingly.

Insurance : Termination of Disability Benefits in Colorado
|
| on 2010/7/29 7:00:00 (112 reads) |
(SkyNewswire.com) --- When a Colorado employee is injured while acting within the course and scope of his or her employment and is, the employee must notify his or her employer. The employer then provides notice of the injury to the insurance carrier. If the employee misses more than three days from work, the insurance carrier must issue either an admission of liability or a notice of contest. A notice of contest is a denial of benefits and may require the employee to submit additional information. Even a determination that the employee is eligible for temporary or permanent disability benefits is not necessarily final; the employer may still seek to have benefits terminated or modified in the future.
Termination of Temporary Disability Benefits Temporary disability benefits can be terminated by the insurance company for several reasons. The employer or employer's insurer selects the authorized treating physician ("ATP"), who is paid by the insurance carrier. If the employer has a qualified on-site health care facility, the employer may designate the entire facility as the ATP. The employee also has the ability to request a different treating doctor, but there are time restrictions governing this right. It usually has to be done within 90 days of the injury and before the injured worker reaches maximum medical improvement.

Insurance : Bad Faith Insurance Claims
|
| on 2010/7/12 10:30:00 (120 reads) |
(SkyNewswire.com) --- When we make insurance premium payments every month or quarter, we do so believing that the insurance company will be there for us, and act in "good faith" when we need them. Unfortunately, instances of "bad faith insurance" happen all too frequently. This can occur when an insurance provider does not provide the promised coverage for a valid insurance claim. It is against the law for an insurance company to act in bad faith.
Types of Bad Faith Insurance There are many different kinds of acts that equal bad faith, and they can happen at various phases of a customer's claim. Here are some examples of what may be bad faith: - Denial of coverage and/or payment for a legitimate claim - Failure to process or investigate a claim at all - Misrepresentation regarding a policy and its coverage - Settling a claim with a forged signature or application - Not acting and issuing payment in a reasonable amount of time once a liability has been determined - Failure to provide an appropriate settlement to an insured customer (often called "low-balling" in the industry)

Insurance : Insure4USA.com Discusses Cell Phone Use While Driving in Newly Published Article
|
| on 2010/7/4 10:30:00 (130 reads) |
(SkyNewswire.com) --- Did you know that it is not only the US government that takes strict action against drivers using cell phone against driving? According to an article released by Insure4USA.com, auto insurance companies have decided to support the cause with an additional clause in their terms and conditions. The clause gives the insurance company the right to increase the premium for drivers who have been given a ticket related to cell phone use while driving. According to Alex, CEO of Insure4USA.com, drivers with tickets for other driving related offenses will add to their woes by having to pay more for their insurance. Repeated offenders who fail to pay their cell-phone tickets are in danger of having their car’s coverage canceled.
According to the article from Insure4USA.com, an alarming increase in the number of car accidents are cell phone related, which has prompted states such as California, Oregon, Washington DC, and others to give police officers the right to issue a ticket to drivers that violate cell phone laws while driving. Many states have also banned texting of messages while driving. CEO Alex adds, “Drivers need to realize the gravity of the situation for their own as well as the safety of the public in general. Insurance companies value their clients and don’t necessarily want to mete out step-motherly treatment to them,” Alex goes on to say. “These clauses make more of a statement rather than a crack on the knuckles of every driver.”

Insurance : Insurance Companies Take New Approach to Denying Sinkhole Claims
|
| on 2010/6/26 11:20:00 (92 reads) |
(SkyNewswire.com) --- As far too many Florida homeowners know, sinkholes can develop when rock below the surface is dissolved by rain or circulating groundwater. As the rock dissolves, spaces and cavities develop underground. Eventually these cavities can cause significant damage to structures above the ground, even if the surface land remains largely intact. Sinkholes typically occur where the underground rock is made of limestone, carbonate rock, salt beds or easily dissolved rocks and are particularly common in Florida.
Prior to 2010, Florida law required property insurers to make coverage for sinkhole losses available. Effective January 1, 2010, insurance companies may non-renew policies for sinkhole coverage in Pasco and Hernando counties, provided that the insurer offers coverage for catastrophic ground cover collapse -- which has left many homeowners without any recourse upon discovering sinkhole damage. Even for policyholders carrying sinkhole coverage though, insurance companies often attempt to deny coverage. Historically, insurance companies sought to avoid paying sinkhole claims by denying evidence of sinkhole activity. For example, to avoid paying a claim, insurance companies might attribute damage to earth movement or material shrinkage, rather than sinkhole activity.

Insurance : Private Event Insurance Can Give You Peace of Mind By Brantley Graham
|
| on 2010/6/24 8:20:00 (129 reads) |
(SkyNewswire.com) --- Private event insurance policies are tailored to fit the need, the style as well as the scale of any occasion, whether big and small. Most policies have been developed with the benefit of long term experience and the clear understanding that every event is unique, and special, to the business or an individual. A relatively small loss can sometimes feel devastating, whereas a large loss or liability claim on the other hand can sometimes bring a big financial disaster, which can ruin any business.
There are times, when something unexpected does go wrong, and it can be quite scary how quickly the costs can add up, which is quite bad for people who have planned every detail and budgeted down to the last penny. This type of insurance can help protect from the financial consequences of mishaps on a large or small scale.

Insurance : Cheap Car Insurance For Today's Woman By James A. Tang
|
| on 2010/6/23 13:40:00 (346 reads) |
(SkyNewswire.com) --- The main purpose of a car insurance or vehicle insurance is to be able to recover the cost of the damages sustained when your car gets damaged in an accident. Usually such damages cost a lot of money. Even the small accidents that break your headlights or scrapes that leave dents across the car's body costs a lot of money. The car insurance also provides protection against liability, in case you need to pay money as penalty due to damage caused to life or property. Women these days need their own car to drive, even if they are married. This may be because she has her own timetable to follow and often it is not possible to co-ordinate everything with her husband's schedule. Car insurance for women offers special policies for women just like you. These policies have much lower interest rates and are extremely affordable. The rationale for low interest rates on the insurance for women is that women are generally careful drivers and the accidents involving women are less disastrous when compared to those involving men.

These insurance packages are also available online and you can choose the policy that suits you the best after doing your research. You can also read reviews online regarding various car insurance policies for women and take opinions from experts.
