(SkyNewswire.com)--- OGDEN - Mingle with outdoor enthusiasts and film makers from around the world at Utah's High Adventure Mountain Film Festival Gala Awards Dinner September 20th at 7 p.m. The Festival runs September 18 – 21 in Ogden and the Gala Awards Dinner will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Ogden Eccles Conference Center.
Nominated films will be discussed and short clips from award winning films will be shown along with comments from the film makers. Film categories include Above the Summit include; Rock and Ice Climbing, Alpine Climbing, Backcountry/Extreme Skiing and Snowboarding, Whitewater Adventures, and Mountain Environmental Sustainability. The Lowe-MAX™ Award (Mountain Adventure eXcellence) will be presented to the winners of ten Mountain Adventure categories and the Best of Fest and the Audience Award Winners.
One of the highlights of the festival will be the Saturday evening Gala Awards dinner featuring special guests and "Rock Stars." Awards will be presented in the film categories and to special LifeClimb Achievement™ Award honorees. Yuji Hirayama and Hans Florine will be presented with LifeClimb Achievement™ Awards. Their latest accomplishment was a lightning speed climb of "The Nose" of El Capitan. Hirayama and Florine climbed the famous 3,000 foot granite cliff in Yosemite National Park in just 2 hours, 43 minutes, 33 seconds. LifeClimb Achievement™ Awards this year will include northern Utah skiing and climbing pioneer Dean Perkins, clean climbing visionary Doug Robinson, and filmmakers Michael and Roger Brown. Disabled adventure athletes Chris Wadell, Mark Wellman, and Warren MacDonald will also be recognized.
The Gala Awards Dinner will be held at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center in Ogden on September 20th at 7:00 p.m. Admission to this special event is $50.
